Health is not merely absence of disease. Despite an increased awareness about health and wellbeing in recent years, the chronic disease burden continue to rise. My training in Functional Medicine and over 20 years of experience as a medical doctor, has helped me develop a unique scientific working model which allows me to identify and work at the root cause of many conditions at the outset. I believe this approach can reset your health and prevent disease or complications depending on the time of presentation and your commitment to following a treatment plan. 

For acute presentations, my clinical expertise as a GP helps in managing them rapidly by diagnosing and treating emergencies and refer to specialists where necessary. 


For chronic, ongoing disease patterns I focus on improving reversible lifestyle factors using systems biology approach and involving nutritionists, exercise specialists and health coaches.

My approach to both these models is scientific, evidence based, regulated and collaborative with both the secondary care specialists and allied health care professionals.

We now clearly understand from chronic diseases such as diabetes and autoimmune conditions that disorder of function precedes 5-10 years before the disease manifestation. Once a disease manifests symptoms control and reduction of end organ damage remains the priority. From latest epigenetic studies we understand that changing the environment changes the function/ expression of our genes.
 

Hence addressing both the internal (mental emotional wellbeing) as well as external environment (diet, lifestyle, exercise, sleep, relationship and stress), to which our genome is exposed, becomes crucial in changing the trajectory of disease manifestation.

Time to listen to your unique story 

With the growing burden of chronic disease pandemic, it has become imperative to listen to the whole story, otherwise we end up treating the symptoms rather than the disease. This is what may happen in a routine 10-15-minute consultation.

Having repeatedly observed missed opportunities to identify disease pattern and consequential pharmacological burden carried by the patients, I decided to launch this unique plan of care with 60-90-minute consultations to understand my patients needs properly and give them an opportunity to be heard at length. This is vital to enable me to identify and address the underlying mechanism of the disease.

I pay particular attention in improving the mental health of my patients to help them manage their chronic disease burden. We are all so unique and individual that there is no one else like us in the whole creation. Therefore my focus is on the person who has got the disease rather than the disease which the person has. This determines the appropriate model of care.

Having the expertise of a GP helps me rule out red flags and screen or refer, as often overlapping symptom patterns could be a marker of acute illness or underlying sinister pathology. Once an acute illness has been ruled out and a specialist intervention sought, I am happy to look into a preventative aspect of diseases. 
 

I then investigate the pattern of disease presentations to formulate a system/mechanism-based approach to illness by addressing triggers, mediators and precipitants. I also advise on the reversible parameters such as diet, exercise, sleep, stress and relationships to help restore and reset the health.

A dedicated personalized plan is created to help clients overcome their barriers to correct lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, sleep, stress and relationships with a collaborative team of nutritionist, health coaches, psychologist and exercise therapists.

Our signature bespoke whole person program, to identify and correct the underlying  disordered function using a systems biology approach.
